The pairing for that is a set of two Marshall Super Lead 100 aka "Plexi" full stacks which both guitarists used for their heavier sounds, especially with fuzz units and overdrive pedals, and both had a pair of 1960 Fender Twin Reverbs for clean tones as well. Guys like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Johnson, who actually used similar setups right down to the same pedals, used one amp for lead distortion work and another for clean. Laney amps have a nice natural tube distortion sound, the best tube driven sounds come from a Laney imo and with a Tube Driver, it would really give you a nice distortion tone. Randall and Laney tube amps sound good for clean stuff but the thing is that you want something that will also sound good with pedals, I don't know very many people who would put a distortion or overdrive pedal in front of a clean amp like a Fender Twin Reverb, you might bust your ear drums doing it.
